WhatsApp always waits for adding new features. Because it waits for users’ good response to existing features and do a good study on market expectations.

The Unicode Consortium approved the Unicode 15 standard in the middle of September. There are 4,489 new characters in total, including 20 brand-new emoji (31, if you count every skin tone variation). After testing out WhatsApp beta ver. 2.22.25.12, “WABetaInfo” observed that the messaging app is silently adding support for 21 of those Unicode 15 emoji.

New 21 emoji making their way to market in the near future. There is no time period known to us at writing this article.

WhatsApp developers also tweaked the appearance of some existing emoji. You may check out both in the most recent beta build that is available on the Play Store. The pleading expression and the face holding back tears emojis exhibit the most noticeable visual difference.

Samsung gave ‘Unicode 15 emoji’ access to users with its OneUI 5.
